By Keith van den Broek, NVE
Meet at the Forest Service conference room upstairs.
The Native Village of Eyak has been conducting research on the Copper River since 2001. The best known of these studies is a long term monitoring project of Chinook salmon escapement to the Copper River. The NVE has also been doing work with Chinook genetics, lower river acoustic counts, sockeye escapement counts and studying the spawning distribution of Chinook, sockeye, Coho and steelhead. Information from these studies directly affects how all the fisheries are managed. In this presentation, Keith will give an overview of the methodology of these studies, and talk about the results from the 2006 field season.
