Cordova Community Science Mug-Up Series
Cordova Community Science Mug-Up Series is a community education lecture series to support science outreach in Cordova. Researchers, managers, and scientists working in and around Prince William Sound engage eager Cordovans in discussions of the natural and marine world with weekly public presentations. 'Mug-up' is a local term for coffee breaks in canneries and aboard fishing boats and is an opportunity for exchanging news and ideas. From owls to octopus, from glaciers to gadoids, the series has something for every curious mind. Lecture schedules and presentation PowerPoint when available are posted here. The Mug-Up series was founded in 1998 by the Prince William Sound Science Center community education program and partners with the Cordova office of the Alaska Sea Grant Marine Advisory Program.
Join us for an exciting hour of educational fun. All ages are welcome and our programs are free! Many of our programs include a hike or afternoon of exploration too. Please call Allen Marquette at the Science Center for more information @ 424-5800 ext 237, allen@pwssc.gen.ak.us, or Torie Baker at the MAP office @ 424-7542.
